![]() ![]() Remember the Greaser Rooster? Greasers were prominent around the 1950s-1960s. If Enchanted Portals were to also aim for the 1930s style as Cuphead, this would make no sense at all. It would be like if you could Livestream Jimmy Hendrix at Woodstock in real-time. A nice thought, but wouldn’t be accurate to the time. Hopefully, the creators are taking this into account and won’t try and grab inspirations from the wrong time of animation if this is their intention. Who knows if they will try and say there will be a kind of aesthetic to the game itself since one could say “This game is set in the 1990s!” because Dragon’s Lair II and Rock-A-Doodle did come out during that time. While one could have their individual thoughts on how to definite “Inspire vs Rip-Off,” it can help to see other people’s thoughts on what they might think on this.ĭoes a “Lack of Effort” make a game a rip-off? That and if you consider at the end, we do see a house with a car and satalite and if it fair to say that this is a game that would have its setting set at an entire time. Much like the teaser video itself, there are just as many videos that say “Give this game a chance” as there are “Why this shameless game is a bad thing.” But one detail that seems to cross people’s minds more times than naught as why this is “shameless” is due to the lack of effort Enchanted Portals puts into the game as opposed to Cuphead. This seems rather unfair, but let’s just dive into this a bit further.Īs we said before, Cuphead has the pleasure of how everything in the game is hand-drawn. They also spent many years working on this game because of it. It was pure madness that they did pull it off and because of it, Cuphead rightfully got the praises during the “end of the year awards” of various websites. But could we see this happen again? Ever? Perhaps if you dump alot of money into the production otherwise, yeah, it’s probably fair to say Enchanted Portals, while does look smooth and clean in its own right, still doesn’t hold a candle to Cuphead.īut when you look at the animation in motion, yeah, it might not be as smooth as Cuphead, but you do see animation 101 in play. While it would be hard to talk about it without visual examples, I would recommend watching this video by T B Skyen.

It's a shorter game, and while not for everyone, is a fun thing to waste time on. Check out I Am Fish if you have Game Pass. But for the most part, the game receives at least a passing grade in it's polish. For instance, if you're swimming with the other fish, they will automatically swim to you, possibly impeding your ability to jump or use an ability. There are frame drops in the cutscenes, and some gameplay mechanics don't work extremely well. It's cute for the entire playthrough, and definitely presents a distinct challenge even if half the battle is simply getting the character to go where you want them. Still, the narrative that is woven into the game is pretty nice, as they really didn't have to do it. While I definitely enjoy the animation and the fun puzzle-ness of the game's routes that it presents you with, the first hurdle during every level is simply controlling the fish in whatever environment you're in (I could go my entire life without seeing another fish in a jar of water). It's not horrible, but I wouldn't really recommend it either, so a solid meh.Ħ0% Xbox Series X/S6/10 While I Am Fish is a fun and cute game, it is also, at times, infuriatingly hard to control and play. A fun physics platformer with clever levels, a bit of puzzling, and a terrifying man wearing a farmers cap. ![]() I had to mute the game because hearing the same 3 note melody for the 100th time was perhaps even more frustrating than not being able to get the proper jump height. I Am Fish review: a physics platformer with sole. The music suffers from something similar where it's basically only 4-8 bars that repeat infinitely with perhaps some instrumentals coming and going. But also during the hospital level where the guy kept saying the same 3 lines over and over. One day, this fish gets tired of not having access to oxygen and decides to make a break for it. Specifically, you are a small goldfish in a perfectly round and sealed fishbowl. The dialog snippets were really repetitive, which really annoyed me as I was failing the same jump over and over. The I Am Fish demo pretty much sums it up: You are a fish. ![]() Yes it handles like a dumptruck on ice, but you know it's going to so you have to start adjusting your direction really early. Anyway, it looks quite nice and some of the sections are challenging in a fun way, such as the sphere-shaped fishbowl. Perhaps it's not possible, but it felt awful to basically get no jump if you just grazed the control stick. I either got a low and long jump or a high jump that didn't go forward, but never something in between. This game lacks that, even after finishing it, I couldn't really force a good jump from water with the flying fish. 60% PCOne of those games with purposefully frustrating controls, which I don't necessarily mind as long as they're predictable, like "Getting over It" for instance. ![]() I have run into some issues online, although it’s fewer than I can count on one hand. A large majority of fights have played out with smooth and responsive controls on PC and Xbox, both with wired and wireless connections. With how important the online modes are to MultiVersus, the rollback netcode running remote multiplayer sessions has to be great, and it has been across most of the well over 100 matches I have under my belt. While I naturally gravitated towards tanks like Superman and The Iron Giant, I’ve also been having a blast learning the intricacies of playing support as Steven Universe and learning about each character to be a better teammate. It’s great fun discovering how Bugs Bunny and his toon gimmicks pair with the protection and crowd control provided by Wonder Woman’s moves. Whether that’s the frontline tanks, the hard-hitting bruisers, the agile and deadly assassins, or the trickier ranged mages and support classes everyone has a role to play in a fight, and your team composition can be vital to succeeding against experienced challengers. These team battles are a lot of fun, with each character assigned a class that promotes a specific playstyle to help compliment a partner. A change from the norm is a lack of ledge grabbing, which is why Player First has opted to enable wall jumps that make for exciting, daring saves by sticking to the side of the main platform and leaping to safety instead of falling to your doom.Īnother big departure is that the 2v2 mode is meant to be the main way to play, making MultiVersus refreshing and setting it apart from its peers. You can use double jumps and dodges to navigate the airspace, escape danger, avoid projectiles, or line up a devastating assault of your own. I almost always feel in complete control, which can be attributed to the tight mobility options available to most of the roster. It’s recognizable, but a well-executed system, and controlling your character is as quick and fluid as I’d hope the chaotic gameplay of a platform fighter would be. Characters have two attack buttons to work with, representing normal hits and flashier special attacks, with different moves performed by pointing the analog stick up, down, or to the side while unleashing an attack. Like in Smash Bros., your goal is to build up damage on your opponent in order to make it easier to send them flying off into the void at the edge of the screen for a kill. Thankfully the music does help make up for this, and I look for any opportunity to brawl in the Sky Palace just to hear its wonderful instrumental cover of the Steven Universe theme. The other three locations look like they could take place anywhere despite supposedly being based on memorable sites like the Adventure Time treehouse. Unfortunately, the sparse selection of stages are bland and lack identity beyond those two standouts. Matches in MultiVersus play out as either 1v1, 2v2, or four-player free-for-all battles in places like a spooky Scooby Doo-inspired mansion or the gadget-ridden cavern of the Bat Cave. Beyond the recognizable, I dig additions like Reindog, too, an original creation that opens up the possibility for more new faces to join the fray down the line. It’s great to hear the voices I remember from cartoons and movies I grew up on bantering with characters they’ve never had the chance to meet before. ![]() Having actors like John DiMaggio (Jake the Dog), Kevin Conroy (Batman), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy), and Maisie Williams ( Arya Stark) reprise their roles goes a long way toward making these characters feel authentic. ![]() There are many options for playing the game, from single-player to online PvP, so players need to search through the menu to find the option for local multiplayer matches. While compact, the roster is diverse and brimming with personality thanks to its impressively faithful voice cast. In 2020, the world's largest gold producer was China, followed by Russia and Australia. Gold coins ceased to be minted as a circulating currency in the 1930s, and the world gold standard was abandoned for a fiat currency system after the Nixon shock measures of 1971. In the past, a gold standard was often implemented as a monetary policy. Gold also dissolves in mercury, forming amalgam alloys, and as the gold acts simply as a solute, this is not a chemical reaction.Ī relatively rare element, gold is a precious metal that has been used for coinage, jewelry, and other arts throughout recorded history. Gold dissolves in alkaline solutions of cyanide, which are used in mining and electroplating. Gold is insoluble in nitric acid alone, which dissolves silver and base metals, a property long used to refine gold and confirm the presence of gold in metallic substances, giving rise to the term ' acid test'. Gold is resistant to most acids, though it does dissolve in aqua regia (a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid), forming a soluble tetrachloroaurate anion. Less commonly, it occurs in minerals as gold compounds, often with tellurium ( gold tellurides). It occurs in a solid solution series with the native element silver (as in electrum), naturally alloyed with other metals like copper and palladium, and mineral inclusions such as within pyrite. Gold often occurs in free elemental ( native state), as nuggets or grains, in rocks, veins, and alluvial deposits. It is one of the least reactive chemical elements and is solid under standard conditions. Chemically, gold is a transition metal and a group 11 element. Who is the favourite in Fury vs Wilder 3?īoxing's many commentators do not have consensus on who will triumph in the desert.įury had the upper hand in the second fight, but Wilder has had plenty of time to work on his tactics, plus he has been working with a new trainer Malik Scott.įury, for his part, will tip the scales at close to 300 lbs, and it remains to be seen if that is a help or a hindrance, particularly if the fight goes the distance. That dispute led to an arbitration judge having to hand down a ruling, which stipulated that Fury had to honour the rematch clause before he could face anybody else. The fight has been rescheduled an extraordinary four times, with both men testing positive for COVID-19, as well as having a dispute about the validity of the rematch clause that Wilder had activated after the second contest. There is a great prize at stake, as the winner will lift the WBC and The Ring magazine heavyweight title belts. The third is anyone's guess, but it will no doubt be a captivating fight between two of boxing's most magnetic characters. The first bout in Los Angeles was a debatable draw, with Fury winning the second convincingly. Fury and Wilder seem set to walk down a similar path.Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder will meet in the boxing ring at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, on Saturday night to complete their trilogy of heavyweight title fights. Neither Muhammad Ali nor Joe Frazier never publicly stated their very real desire to kill each other (although it came out in Frazier’s biography that he did pray to God to give him the strength to “kill this scambooga”), yet they never, ever made up and put their rivalry to bed before they both passed away. They each want to hurt the other guy, and bad. Fury, the brash, undefeated British champion, does not move like someone 6-foot-9 and 277 pounds should. Let’s ask the question: has trash-talking gone way too far over the past few years or so? Should fighters or their team members be penalised for making what, let’s be honest, amount to death threats? In the case of this fight, the nasty talk is not down to ticket sales, as in an attempt to improve them. Wilder III is one of the most anticipated fights of 2021, and for good reason. This is not what we want, although there are serious threats from both sides that this is what we and the sport will get. God forbid one of these two stars of the heavyweight division does get badly or permanently hurt on October 9. Wilder was dropped like a sack of bricks and this time he wasn't going to beat the count as the ref immediately stopped the fight. Do you think there is any chance in hell Wilder and Fury will ever, ever shake hands and embrace? Not going by the nasty, sickening words the two have had for each other they won’t. Round 11: Finally, Fury finishes Wilder with a brutal knockout. As fight fans, yet also sports fans, we hope to see neither ghastly scenario unfold. He then traveled back to his library, and wrote about what had happened. The books told him somebody was watching, and referred to the unknown entity as "it." He found several books which kept on telling him to not "STRAY FROM THE PATH", similarly to his last visit. He found more books, one of which told him to check under the tree. He continued onwards and found a book that told him the castle was alive and sentient, and that this would help him find out how to keep retaining his memories. He did so, and discovered that there were many versions of himself roaming the Courtyard, but they did not respond to him and seemed able to walk right through him. Karl left the tree and climbed a flight of stairs until he wound up at the top of one of the towers. A second book on the trunk told him that, while Karl's time-traveling would remain an involuntary thing, he will be able to find a way to mitigate the damage it did to his body and mind. Karl wandered around the castle, and found a white tree with a swing set in front, bearing a strong resemblance to the Tree Dome from Mizu. Sure, most of the characters here are off-brand Hogwarts faculty members, but Vanillaware injected enough of its style into these caricatures to make them more than some dollar-store Wizarding World weirdos. Because it’s breathtaking otherwise-particularly on my Switch OLED screen-it controls greatly, and the narrative is well-written, avoiding the expository pitfalls of the time-loop genre. That is likely my only complaint about this game. Some skills on the trees are locked to the game’s easy and hard modes, the latter of which NIS claims has been tweaked to provide a greater challenge than in the original release. In a very player-friendly decision, OnceMore allows you to respec these skill trees at any time, so if you walk into a challenge that is heavy on enemy Alchemy familiars, you can redistribute your coins to the Sorcery skill trees to get the upper hand. As you proceed through the story and complete optional side-missions, you earn coins you can spend on these trees to improve your units or give yourself an advantage in battle. ![]() Each of the different grimoires Lillet learns has its own tree. The most obvious sign of this is how often I used the new fast-forward feature to speed through each battle. At around Lillet’s third trip through the loop, that was no longer working for me, and I had slow down and really think about I would go about defeating my enemies. In the early chapters, when the types of familiars were limited, I could power my way through every challenge. It didn’t take me too long to get a good understanding of what beats what, but remembering the names of the different familiars you can summon and their special abilities was something of a struggle. Grimoires, runes, and familiars fall into four magical categories (Glamour, Necromancy, Sorcery, Alchemy) that are bound to a rock-paper-scissors power dynamic.
